Odyssey

Despite a person’s age, with determination, motivation and proper skills, an individual has the ability to succeed. In The Odyssey, Homer introduces the young Telemachos as a character eager to find his father. Revered and respected for planning and executing the conquest of Troy, Odysseus, his father, remains detained ten year after the end of the Trojan War. In an effort to save his mother, Penelope, from the ill mannered suitors, Telemachos takes upon himself the responsibility of bringing his father home as soon as possible. Upon his return home, the suitors plan to attack Telemachos. Although both brave and willing, Telemachos soon learns of the difficulty in ensuring a safe return for his father. By examining his power, kindness, and leadership the reader comes to see Telemachos as a young man worthy of attaining hero status.
