Black Legend
The “Black Legend” was a concept contrived by Anglo-Saxons in an attempt to shed a gloomy falsified conception on their colonial competition, the Spanish. The “Black Legend” inferred that the Spanish were no more than brutish tyrants to the natives of the New World who forced them to endure torture, rape, pillages, genocide, and nothing the kinder. ... This is what highlights the greatest interest in the “Black Legend.” The “Black Legend” seems to be only that of an unwarranted and hypocritical blame. ... Therefore, in the case of the “Black Legend” it is inappropriate for such claims to be made.
