The human body is can be categorized into many organ systems, which are made up by organs. These systems include the endocrine system, the lymphatic system, the digestive system, and the muscular system, to name a few. In the same sense, cells are much like these systems, which are made up by organelles. The organelles work together to carry out the processes of the cells, much like organs carry out the processes of the organ system. Thus analogies can be constructed to link organelles to organs. Any bone in the body, the femur for example, is part of the skeletal system. The femur’s function is primarily support for movement. The cytoskeleton of a cell is much like a bone such as the femur.
