American Dream Past to Present
The American Dream has changed greatly over time. My dream as an American is to graduate college, acquire a job, purchase my own home, and support my wife and kids. But that is not the dream of every American or of past Americans. The American dream started with the dreams of the first immigrants, then with the dreams of African Americans, and eventually to the dreams of present day Americans. ... The dreams of some Americans in today’s society are similar to those of the past. ... I believe that if the Americans in today’s society would concentrate on the dreams of past Americans, such as equal rights and integration, and not so much on being rich, that America would be a happier and equal opportunistic place to live. The American dream has changed considerably over time, from the simple dreams of religious freedom and the opportunities to have new lives to the complex dreams of today such as being wealthy and successful.
