What Lips My Lips Have Kissed
After reading the poem titled, “What Lips My Lips Have Kissed”, by Edna St. Vincent Millay, I have come to realize the power of words. Millay is a very descriptive poet and her word usage paints vivid images to the reader. The voice of the poem is from a female’s perspective and the poem displays a lonely tone. As a whole, her work is an elegant Italian sonnet which leaves no degree left to the imagination. The title poses as a question for a reader and it makes one think of the encounters they might have had in past relationships. Millay’s poem is somewhat complicated, but it can be simplified. The course of her poem takes the direction of a confused lover who has had many lovers in her life.
