The 2000 presidential election was one of, if not the closest, wildest, and most intensely watched election in the history of politics. Candidates were Texas Governor, Republican Candidate George, Vice President Democratic candidate Al Gore, Green Party candidate Ralph Nader, and Reform Party candidate Pat Buchanan. It was the Election that made Dade County, Florida and Butterfly Ballots household constants of conversation. The focal point of this paper will be the Republican party, from its nomination phase, to the general election, and to the eventual victory of GOP candidate George W.
