InterpConflict Resolution within a Self-Managed Team
Most organizations are contingent upon competition and individual career advancement. However, these two aspects are what inhibit conflict. Teams that want to be productive must learn how to deal with conflict. ... Without conflict, complacency in teams can occur and the development of the team and/ or the team member can be seriously impeded (Capozzoli, 1999).
Constructive conflict can be a result of people changing their personality, a solution to an issue, bringing continuity and synergy to a team and building a stronger team. Destructive conflict is a result of issues that do not get resolved, redirects energy into less important activities, responsibilities don’t get completed, ruins the team spirit. Several factors are the cause of conflict such as the different cultural values, attitudes and personalities, expectations, perceptions and understanding, the needs of a member and resources that are not available.
