My definition of a friend was so narrow minded that I was never aware of the idea that a friend did not have to be someone my age or even a person. Later I would learn the true meaning of a friend and realize how wrong I was to think that I was alone in this world. ... I wondered to myself how this furry dog was ever going to replace a sibling or a best friend that I had wanted? ... My dream had finally come true. I thought that a dog would just be a pet of the family but little did I know that soon enough this was going to be my best friend that would have an ear to listen and a furry shoulder for me to cry on.
