absolute monarchs

Absolute Monarchs in France and Russia After feudalism emerged in Europe, many absolute monarchs started to develop. There were two major absolute monarchs. These were Louis XIV of France and Peter the Great of Russia. These monarchs had unlimited power and used their own dreams and values to shape the nation. Louis XIV was from France. His reign was the longest reign in history. It lasted 72 years. This set the trend for European monarchs in the 1600s and 1700s. Louis XIV was very arrogant and barely ever did anything for himself. He looked upon himself as being God-like and acted supreme towards the commoners like they didn’t matter. He would act as if they didn’t belong around him or in his palace because they were properly educated like he was.
