New women´s literature The concept of culture is a very important one to analyze the modern American Literature. ... We can see, therefore, women´s literature as been one of these groups that interact in the American culture of the twentieth century. It´s important to understand women´s category in time and history to have a better perspective of their literature. Marilyn Frye can clarify a lot about women in the society of the time in her essay “Oppression”. ... “Her kind” by Sexton is a confessional poetry that tells the reader about the conflict of women´s category. ... The oppression that Frye talks about can be seen in these poetries also. In “Her Kind” at the end of the first stanza she says: “A woman like that is not a woman, quite. I have been her kind.” In this stanza, she talks about a witch and tell us that it´s not acceptable to be different and by saying that she had been her kind makes the reader think that she has been oppressed about been a “witch”.
