In a dynamic political system it can not be concluded simply that there was a bipolar system in the Cold War which has now been replaced by a unipolar political system. ... But did this figurative scale balancing act during the Cold War only involve the United States and the USSR and if so, can it be deemed that the Cold War was indeed an example of a bipolar political system. To the ignorant individual this would seem a plausible idea, the capitalist Americans balancing the communist soviets, hence a bipolar international political system. ... With close analysis of the conflicts which occurred during the Cold War period it is clear to see that the balancing of powers did not come down to the two states in this theoretical bipolar political system. ... It can therefore be concluded that a bipolar system was not in place to the extreme of the definition because a small state like North Korea had the power to make an uneven balance of power. ... Interestingly, the Korean War also reveals another challenger to the theoretical bipolar political system of the cold war.
