Impact of Music
The impact of music in our lives is a force so extensive, that Sir George Solte once said, “Mozart makes you believe in God—much more than going to church—because it cannot be by chance that such a phenomenon arrives into this world by chance and then passes after thirty-six years, leaving behind such an unbounded number of unparalleled masterpieces”. In comparing Mozart to God, Solte is asserting the significance of music and how it is such a life-changing factor in society. By saying that Mozart is more influential than the church in making people believe in God, Solte presumes that music exerts a divine power.
