Angur Miah History essay Identifying and explaining tow principles determine the conduct of British foreign policy between 1846 and 1865 The British foreign policy in a way has made Britain what it is today for example what Palmerston done whilst he’s position as a foreign secretary still is influencing the British people. Such as the things he said might play a big part on people life even today such as: “I hold with respect to alliances, that England is a power sufficiently strong, sufficiently powerful, to steer her own course.” Basically what he’s trying to say is that England is strong and should not depend on others to help them and they are not part of any one else. Even today people living in Britain don’t really accept that they part of Europe. In this essay I am going to identify and explain two principles that determine the conduct of British foreign policy between 1846 and 1865. The two principles from all the British policy that I have chosen to write about is the naval power and to protect low countries (keep them independent). Naval power Naval power is an essential part for the British foreign policy because it is the main source of defence for Britain.
