Ordinary People Essay - Beth
Throughout the novel, Ordinary People, Beth shows that she is an unconcerned parent by neglecting Conrad’s problems in order to live her life as scheduled.
First and mainly, Beth is an unconcerned parent because she is inconsiderate towards Conrad’s needs and feelings. ... Beth ignores her son’s question and excuses herself from the breakfast table quickly after the question. On page 27, Beth and her husband are lunching when she suggests that their family take a vacation to Europe during Christmas break. Calvin thought it to be a bad idea because Conrad still wasn’t completely recovered, but Beth completely disregarded him and exclaimed that she NEEDED to go.
