This article discusses Bruce Miller’s definition of what it is to be a “good” actor. ... throughout the rest of the article, Miller mentions different ways for an actor to make good choices to tell the story based on the script. ... ” He said if you ever see a play and you’re asked to describe what happened in a scene, and you use the devaluing word “just,” you know there’s a problem with the acting. ... Even though he never says the phrase, “score a script” it’s obvious that’s what he means when Miller talks about George and Lennie and how even though the audience doesn’t know all the background information on the characters, the characters do. ... ” He continues on, “the best acting does not seemed performed. ...
Bruce Miller has an interesting take on what “good acting” is. ... When Miller said, “They are being guided by their spontaneous emotions and can’t necessarily connect those emotions with the script they are working from,” He meant actors who focus on their impulsive emotion do not connect to the play well or understand at all what their working with.
