The establishment of the National Competition Policy In the past, the lack of competition in key markets has contributed to inefficiencies within organizations. Competition generally leads to better, more efficient organizations, giving consumers lower prices, greater choice and higher quality services. In order to promote efficiency and fairer competition environment, Australian governments agreed to implement a national competition policy based on the 1993 Hilmer Report, which is given the definition of: “National Competition Policy is a set of reform policies aimed at encouraging a better use of the country’s resources — and hence provide a higher standard of living — through increasing competition. ... htm) Meanwhile, the National Competition Policy is represented by the Federal financial relations, government service delivery and social justice.
