Rich and Gilmore Both have very striking views on honor and lying between the opposite sexes. ... Gilmore, on the other hand, speaks about men having so many cultural and gender expectations that if they do not accomplish certain things in their lifetime, they are frowned upon. Women (in Gilmore’s essay) are rarely spoken of because if anything wrong occurs, it is always the male in the relationship’s fault. When women are spoken of in the essay, Gilmore refers to them only as the things or object that a man needs to accomplish getting, and the person bearing a child. ... Here in this sentence by Rich and in the text from Gilmore we see that a man must stand up against adversity.
