A Burden Becomes a Blessing “I would at times feel that learning to read had been a curse rather than a blessing.” -Fredrick Douglas How reading can be considered a curse seems ludicrous to a person such as myself. Growing up in a fairly average middle class family learning to read was just another thing I was expected to do in elementary school. Just as I was taught to ride a bike and write my name, I was taught to read books.
