Vauxhall investigation
2. Sub Assembly Summary of Job done: As the name suggests, sub assembly is all about putting the pieces together. It is in the component sub-assembly area that the front and the rear doors, ailgates, facing panels and roof assemblies are built on fully automated production lines. Whole Procedure: Welding: The inner-door panel assembly goes through an automatic, four-stage welding and transfer machine, while the outer panel is produced on a self-contained, multi-weld fixture. Marriage: The two section are then ‘married’, i.e. they are clinched together by hemming and a final welding process, before passing through a special oven which sets the panel-to-panel adhesive.
