Uneven War

A war is when two armies are fighting. ... ” Bill Hicks, speaking after the ’91 Gulf War Judging by the numbers of troops and the calibre of military hardware which has been sent to Iraq, a repeat of these statistics seems inevitable. ... An example of this can be seen if the statistics from the last war in the Gulf are viewed. ... The most uneven aspect of the war comes from the Coalition’s advantage of having the most technologically advanced air force in the world. ... Before the war started it was thought by military strategists that Saddam and his generals will have learned to alter their tactics from the last war to reflect the technological differences in the two sides. ... A few days into the war former CIA analyst Kenneth Pollack even went so far to say Saddam Hussein had apparently prepared for the American invasion “by watching ‘Black Hawk Down’ and I mean literally. ... ” During the beginning of the war American and British military intelligence were still saying that the threat of chemical and biological weapons was still a real and active threat. ... Of course though, they had to say this, as this was their whole reason for going to war in the first place, if it wasn’t a threat then people would begin to suspect that, just maybe, somebody in the government wasn’t telling the whole truth.
