consequentalism

Consequentialism and utilitarianism, aren’t they the same thing? Well they are somewhat, for utilitarianism is a form of consequentialism. Consequentialism refers to a class of normative moral theories which argues whether an action is morally right, that is if the consequences of the action are more favorable then unfavorable. As for utilitarianism, it is a sub-group of consequentialism. It is much like consequentialism in which an action is to be judged good or bad according to whether its consequences are more favorable then unfavorable, brining either pain or pleasure. It is to do what is morally right. But what does it actually mean to be a “moral” person? Should a person know what is right and what is wrong? And how is he or she to know what is right from wrong? Right from wrong could differ from person to person, each slightly curved.
