Men are from Mars so they are Martians. Women are from Venus so they are Venusians. Using the metaphor that men are Martians and women are Venusians, Gray “reveals new strategies for reducing tension in relationships and creating more love by first recognizing in great detail how men and women are different” (4-5). ... When the Martians discovered these Venusians they fell in love and flew to Venus to meet the unique creatures. ... The Martians and Venusians had completely forgot that they were from different planets and that they were not supposed to be the same. This creates tension as well as arguments between men and women. Communication is key to men and women having a good relationship, yet in most relationships it is greatly lacking. A major communication difference is how men and women deal with their problems. ... Women unlike men find relief in talking about their problems and men find relief in their cave. When men retreat to their cave women feel like they are unimportant because men do not share the way that they are feeling the way women do, and they become upset. When women talk to men about their problems they feel as though women are blaming them, and they also become upset. Men and women need to establish an understanding of each other so that neither gets angry or get their feelings hurt. Improving the lines of communication between men and women will make a relationship much more fulfilling for both people.
