Most people think of sponges as inanimate objects at the bottom of the sea. But, sponges really are animals with amazing talents. The article “Sponges Get Respect” explains why sponges are more complex than people realize. This article provides many facts to give sponges more “respect”. The first fact the article provides is that a recently discovered species of sponges is carnivores. Sponges hunt by trapping their prey when they swim near them, then they engulf them with their sponge cells. ... Only a small percent of sponges have been discovered that eat meat in order to survive.
