Marie Carpenter November 7, 2003 English-7 Part I. of Book Report 1. The beginning of the story we meet Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins, Sam Gamgee, Gandalf, Merry, and Pippin. Bilbo Baggins is the man that is having a birthday soon and is turning 111. He is very adventurous and is the only hobbit that has been to the mountains, or explored. Bilbo is a very outgoing natured guy, but he is also very calm and is writing a book about hobbits and the Shire. Frodo Baggins was adopted by Bilbo when he was very young. He is outgoing and courageous just like Bilbo and Frodo is very fond of Bilbo. Frodo is also adventurous and can do anything he sets his mind to do. Sam Gamgee is Frodo’s best friend and Sam watches out for Frodo all the time. He is also the gardener for Frodo and Sam’s father was the gardener before that. Sam is someone who gets scared very easily, but he can be very courageous if he has to. Gandalf is the wizard that watches out for Frodo, Bilbo, and all the other hobbits.
