The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" is a clichéd term, however, extremely effective in describing the root of the crime situation in our twin isles of Trinidad and Tobago. ... The youth, need to play and important role in such reformation as well, since the majority of our peers settle for a life of crime and idleness. Approaches to the reduction of crime in our country should begin with the reduction of crime in our communities, neighbourhoods and households. ... For criminals and prisoners, methods of rehabilitation and reformation should be exercised since these individuals need to improve their lives and be provided with alternatives to a life of crime. The youth of Trinidad and Tobago are of a special advantage, since they have the access to free education.
