Power of naming

Richard Shelton (Going back to Bisbee p. 33) describes naming as; “ If you can’t name it, you can’t really see it” In this lies the magic of naming. To name a thing, is to give it a second creation, a creation by the viewer. By naming something, is to give it a value that one can distinctively visualize with a name to identify it. One's name is also a representation of oneself.
