Cask of Amontillado
In “The Cask of Amontillado” Edgar Allan Poe takes us on a journey into the mind of a mad man bent on revenge. ... “The Cask of Amontillado” reflects all of these and many other elements. In “The Cask of Amontillado”, Poe presents two interesting characters that apparently have had, in the past, some sort of quarrel that has caused the events that are taking place in this story. ... The thought of the Amontillado excites Fortunato and he is willing to risk his heath to taste it. ... By the time they reach the bottom of the cellar where the Amontillado is supposed to be, Fortunato is so drunk that he does not realize it when Montersor starts to chain him to the wall. ... “The Cask of Amontillado” holds plenty of irony. ... When revenge fills a person’s heart as it did Montersor’s in “A Cask of Amontillado” does it really solve anything by acting on it?
