Dear Senator, It has come to my attention that the Connecticut General Assembly is considering a proposal to replace capital punishment with life imprisonment without parole. ... Capital punishment plays an important role in discouraging criminals, and punishing criminals who have committed vicious murders. If capital punishment was replaced with life in prison, that could possibly lead to more murders because criminals wouldn’t have death for their crimes. Capital punishment is necessary to help prevent vicious murders in the future.
