... The socialization process is an important area of study for sociologists because it helps explain how we come to precieve ourselves as we do. More technically, socialization is the process “through which individuals acquire a self identity and the physical, mental, and social skills needed for survival in society”. Socialization is complicatied, takes place in numourous arenas of out lives, and continues throughout our lifespan.
