Rhetorical Analysis- “The Case For Torture” In Michael Levin’ s essay, “ A Case For Torture” Levin effectively uses an appeal to Pathos within his argument, writing fervently about his several scenarios, but fails greatly to appeal to logos and pathos in his essay. ... Therefore, this method hindered his appeal to his audience, assumed general American liberals objective to torture, and stalled the proof of his credibility and capabilities as a writer. Levin basically states that the American people would object to torture as a authoritative tool as immoral, but he believes that they should instead see terrorism as more barbaric and approve of torture to be used in the prosecution of criminals. He uses several scenarios and an informal poll that would appeal to a parental audience, he concludes his essay with a warning--if America does not seek torture as a means of persecution, America will suffer. ...
