Plot

PLOT A plot is an arrangement of actions. These actions are divided into an exposition, a rising action, a climax, a falling action, and a conclusion. A good plot should entertain our curiosity. If we are bored then we have no motive to read further unless were forced to read it. An even better plot would leave us in suspense and keep us curious simultaneously. The exposition depicts the characters, situation, time, and place. An example of a remarkable exposition can be seen in Franz Kafkas, "The Metamorphosis." In one sentence we learn that the character Gregor Samsa is transformed into a giant bug.
