Exams Being Abolished

Letter to Editor: Should Exams Be Abolished? Many students struggle with the idea of taking exams. That is why the issue of whether exams should be abolished or not, has been very controversial for a long time. Personally, I strongly disagree with exams being abolished for two reasons. Firstly, exams are essential tools not only for teachers but students as well, in that they give teachers feedback on how the students are progressing. In addition, exams can be a tool for the students to evaluate themselves and sharpen their academic skills. Secondly, exams build the student’s character and form a strong platform for discipline not only for educational purposes, but also for many other facets of life once the students have finished school. Exams are a great way of getting feedback from students; the exams can be used to tell if the students are progressing through the subject or if the students need to spend a little more time studying that particular part of the subject.
