The Witch of Blackbird Pond Imagine coming from the "shimmering turquoise water of Barbados" and then to the "bleak shore line" of Connecticut. I read a awesome book called, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, by Elizabeth George Speare. It is about a young girl, named Katherine, who is forced to leave her elegant home in Barbados. She then goes to live with her relatives in puritan New England after her grandfather’s death. Katherine has a hard time accepting the dramatic differences. Kit , the young girl, had to go through this tremendous experience.
