The author Dorothy Parkers wit and sharp tongue show through the standard living story, especially through Midge. ... In Bambara’s story “The Lesson” we see the children from uptown through the eyes of one of their own. The point of view shapes the story as a whole because it’s as if you were there with the children. Everything in the story was well described and in great detail. ... The language used in this story is a bit harsh but it isn’t that bad.
