In his autobiography “Always Running”, Luis Rodriguez paints a provocative portrait of his journey into and out of modern gang life. In addition he offers a powerful and emotional critique of American society, that in his view, has kept him running all his life. ... Rodriguez ultimately proves to be a sympathetic character who must accept total responsibility for “Always Running.” Luis Rodriguez is a willing participant. ... I threw over the basketball, walked back a ways, then ran n jumped on the fence, only to fall back” (page 35, Luis Rodriguez). Luis knew what would of happened but he still did it. ... It’s no big deal, a piece of taco” (page 141-142, Luis Rodriguez). As a teenager Luis was never scared of trying anything. Luis never thought that he will get in trouble by doing stuff like this. He always knew what was doing and never backed off. As he got old, Luis Rodrigues ultimately proves to be a sympathetic character. ... I say the cops did this”(page 208, Luis Rodriguez).
