Upon graduation from Howard, he furthered his education at Brooklyn Law School in 1953, advanced to joining Dyett and Phipps Firm in 1956, a year later changing it to Dyett, Alexander, and Dinkins Firm, and then proceeded to run for mayor of New York City.
