A Separate Peace Theme Paper By: Andrew Behringer “A Separate Peace”, is a novel written by John Knowles. Throughout this book there are many examples of the theme fear. From Gene and Finny’s first encounter to Finny’s untimely death, this book portrays characters showing lots of inner fear. The character that shows the most fear however, is Gene Forrester. Gene is an opposite of Finny. Gene had an ordinary life with his mind set in academics, while Finny had a wild, and almost reckless attitude towards school.
