1. In the short story “Stone Boy”, the author Thich Nhat Hanh, uses many Buddhist themes throughout his story. In the short story some are more apparent than other, but they used many times in the story. Thich Nhat Hanh uses Buddhist beliefs such as creating self-Karma, the acts of uses kindness, and staying away from vices. He uses all of these to tell a story of and orphan girl in the midst of the Vietnam War. To, a girl at a very young age had her father taken away from her in a war related incident. As soon as she begins to move after the death of her father, chemical defoliants that were dropped in the forest during the war blind her. Most children at her age going through the amount of trauma that she undertakes at such a young age give up. But not To she goes every day to a sacred place where her and her father once went. She began visiting the forest and visualizing what was around her.
