Thomas Robert Malthus was born in 1766 in “the Rookery” at Dorking, Surrey, a place just south of London. Being the second of eight children, he had a father, Daniel Malthus, who was a disciple of Rousseau and Hume. Daniel and other tutors privately educated Thomas. ...
