For centuries now our contemporary world has tried to shed light on the dark realities of our past. ...
In Morrison’s case her novel Beloved deals with the tragic events involving Sethe, an ex-slave, and her children. ... As Morrison states it Sethe did the right thing, yet she didn’t have the right to do what she did. ... Contrasting Morrison’s opinion it’s safe to disagree with her entirely. ... As we investigate further this “right thing” Morrison is referring to proves to be Sethe’s attempt to murder her three children, no to mention the killing of her third child, which we now have learned to be Beloved. ...
In interpreting Morrison’s other take on the situation she expresses her view on whether or not Sethe had the right to do what she did. ... In agreement with Morrison it could be said that Sethe’s children were slaves, they were not her property so therefore she had no right in tampering with another person’s possessions.
