Faith and an Inspiring Grandmother
I believe Harriet Jacobs to be the most compelling anti-slavery profit because she is able to take the reader into the real life of a slave girl. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Harriet describes her life with great detail that leaves the reader feeling like we know Miss Linda Brent personally and our emotions rise ad fall with the character. Harriet is such a compelling writer because she is not afraid to take the reader into her life and she pleads to the readers and free men and women of the north to understand what it is like to be in slavery and brings us behind the curtain. ...
Throughout her trials, Harriet continued to praise her mother and especially her grandmother. ... ” Harriet admired her grandmother and in many respects I believe it had a lot to do with how far she was able to make it in her life and the courage she faced the world with.
