bones in the human body
The human skeleton is made up of 206 bones. The functions of these bones are many: they allow the body to move; they give the body a definite shape; they protect the internal organs; they serve as a storage site for minerals (such as calcium) and fats; and tissues in certain bones manufacture blood cells. Because bones have different functions, the skeleton is divide into two parts. The axial skeleton consists of bones that protect the bodys organs.
