Black Hawk Down

Ridley Scott is the director of “Black Hawk Down”. He gives us a very good look at how the real life incident might have been. Nineteen U.S. troops and over one thousand Somalis were killed in the 15-hour gun battle. This gun battle took place in Mogadishu, which is the capital of Somalia. This film is accurate to the real incident in numerous ways, but it fails to show some of the aspects of the battle. The film takes place in 1993 when the U.S. sent Special Forces into Somalia to bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population. They used Black Hawk helicopters to lower the soldiers onto the ground.
