Jack Straight from the Gut Jack Welch is the recently retired CEO of General Electric This

¡°Jack: Straight from the Gut¡± Jack Welch is the recently retired CEO of General Electric. This book is about Jack and his history at GE. ... Welch, in recognition of his PHD in Chemical Engineering from University of Illinois. For the past 20 years, he has really given his all in being General Electric¡¯s CEO. As any job, the process to get that far was not easy but with hard work and his witty personality, Jack showed that he was the right person for the job. One of the funniest parts of the book, in my opinion, was when Reg Jones, former CEO, was holding interviews for his position. He asked, ¡°Jack, you and I are flying in one of the company planes, and the plane crashes. Who should be the next Chairman of General Electric?¡± I love the way Jack practically fights with Reg Jones, explaining how Reg dies and Jack surely survives. Soon after Reg insisted that they both die and that he wanted to know who Jack thought should run the company. Jack Welch is great at pointing people¡¯s strengths and weaknesses out, so I am pretty sure he was picking the best candidate, even though, deep down, he wanted the job. Even after that Reg asked him later on, if Jack had survived, what would he do for the company? That¡¯s another thing that Jack is great at. ... Jack Welch was continually upgrading, strengthening and expanding the foundation on which General Electric and each of its businesses stood and expanded.
