Banning Books Dangerous for Youths

Though many consider these books beloved classics and staples of an adolescent reading experience, others consider these books dangerous for young minds as these books have either been challenged or banned in some schools across America. In a country that holds freedom of speech as one of its highest principles why are we banning books? ... The motivation behind the banning of many books is the belief that adults need to shield society’s youth from words and ideas that contain “inappropriate” examples for living. What society fails to realize is that by denying youth the opportunity to read these “controversial” books, we also deny them the ability for internal growth through the expansion of their imaginations, the enrichment of their emotional lives, and the opportunity to challenge their current ways of thinking.
