A Look At Anthrorpolgy

The definition of anthropology is the study of man and his surroundings, including his culture. Anthropology is unique in that it studies the culture of non-western societies. Anthropologists go over seas and immerse themselves in to someone else’s culture. This is called fieldwork. They participate while they observe what is going on in the culture they now live in. All disciplines try to work on enlightenment, which came about after the renaissance in the 15th and 16th century. This period was also known as the Middle Ages. Enlightenment has three main ideas: nature, reason, and progress. When you apply reason to nature this equals progress, and all disciplines want some kind of progress. Archeologists only study the artifacts of an area, however anthropologists study the artifacts like archeologists but continue to study why the artifacts were found in that specific area. Also speaking of anthropologists studying why the artifacts are in that one place, cultural anthropologists do field studies while they study about a tribal groups culture and his surroundings that include artifacts and other practices and customs.
