Ideology and Hegemony
The two concepts ideology and hegemony, are related through their focus on the unnoticed and undiscussed features held by societal practices and beliefs, and how they contribute to maintaining or changing relations of power. According to Blackburn (1994), ideology in its initial use was to be a universal ‘science of ideas’. Although interest in ideology in this broad sense has continued, more extensive implications such as in the approach of Marxism, have further developed the concept.
