However, being disabled limit’s the use of aircrafts due to the hassle of putting a disabled person on a plane. Current designs of mounting wheelchairs onto an aircraft must be altered or replaced to allow for quicker and easier boarding of disabled consumers. There are numerous ideas concerning the boarding of disabled people onto aircrafts. The disabled all want boarding to go as smoothly for them as it does for able bodied guests. The process of designing a device capable of allowing the easiest of boarding for the disabled requires much thought, research, testing and approval from many sources. ... They have created five designs for the sole purpose of boarding disabled people onto aircrafts, particularly wheelchair ridden individuals. These designs are very elaborate and although they accomplish their goal, wheelchair guests would rather not cause a disturbance in the take off of an aircraft much less have attention drawn to them because of their disability. ... Lift-a-loft has one design that did combine stairs and a wheelchair lift together in one so that the disabled and able bodied individuals could all board quickly without bringing a whole other device into play. They call it the Universal Boarding Device. It is designed for use of able and disabled people to use when terminal access is unavailable or undesirable.
