Johnson Controls needed to create a policy for the company’s female employees who were being exposed to lead, which increases the possibility of a damaged fetus. Johnson Controls tried three different policies to correct the matter. The first policy was to avoid the problem by excluding all women from work that would expose them to lead. The second policy allowed women who wanted to work the job that exposed them to lead, by making them sign a statement relieving the company of responsibility of the fetus.
