ABORTIONA KEY SOCIAL ISSUE

Abortion has always been a controversial subject among society whether they are involved directly or indirectly, or whether they are for it or against it. It is nearly impossible to find someone who doesn’t have an opinion about abortion. Personally I think every person is entitled to his or her own opinions, beliefs, thoughts, and rights. We live in a world built on the idea of freedom, freedom of choice and freedom of expression, yet we are not free. The oppositions of society create restraints for women seeking abortions. Bill Clinton is one of them, "I am opposed to abortion and to government funding of abortions. We should not spend state funds on abortions because so many people believe abortion is wrong." (26th September. 1986.) He felt this way because between 1946 and 1972 it is estimated that there were 11 million to 32 million abortions that resulted in the deaths of over 7,000 women nationwide. However, ever since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973 occurred abortion has changed its course in society. The case recognized abortion as a fundamental, constitutional right and made it legal all across the world. There are different types of abortion; the most popular one performed is the suction abortion. Where the fetus is dismembered and disposed of by a small tube. This process takes 10 minutes and the mother experiences very little or no physical discomfort.
